Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work with radioactivity before taking the radiation safety Training?
Yes, students may register under a Radioactive Permit and work with radioactivity before taking the in-class Radiation Safety Training. To register, the New User registration form must be completed and signed by the Radioactive Permit holder. Completion of the New User registration form also has a practical training component and the Permit Holder or a knowledgeable user must provide instruction to new users on how to safely use radioactivity in their lab. The trainer then must sign the form to confirm that the training has been given. Send the form to rad.safety@uottawa.ca and once the New User Registration form is approved by the Radiation Specialist the student may work with radioactivity.
When is the next Radiation Safety Training?
Radiation Safety Training is offered in January, May and September and the training locations alternate between Main Campus and RogerGuindon Hall. For next training session, see Radiation Training (https://web47.uottawa.ca/en/lrs/node/1401)
